This is the time to start looking for the perfect venue for your special day and planning who you want to attend. Go ahead scan away at your gift registry and get your engagement party planned. Put together your total budget.
10 months before
Now you want to find your wedding officiant and the vendors you'll be working with. Think up a cute way to ask your bridesmaids and groomsmen to be part of your special day and find a photographer for creative engagement photos! Before you make any deposits, check to see if your vendors offer insurance.
8 months before
If your wedding requires your guests to travel you will want to get arrangements made early. Find out the nearest hotels and best deals on transportation so they have plenty of time to save/pay for a trip. Check and see if there are any group rates to make it a little more affordable. It's never too early to order your dress and now would be the perfect time. If you aren't doing your hair/makeup yourself you should be doing test run of what you want your wedding day look to be. Hire and discuss with your wedding coordinator about ideas you may have for your wedding. If you're not looking to hire a professional wedding coordinator, appoint someone outside of your bridal party to coordinate your big day. You bridal party will be too busy doing their bridal party duties.
6 months before
If you're planning on leaving right after your wedding... don't forget to book the honeymoon in advance. The longer you wait, the more expensive your dream trip will be. Go ahead and order your bridesmaids dresses and make sure everyone is comfortable with them. Unless you're paying for them, be cautious of your girls' budgets. Don't forget to send out save the dates and to buy your wedding bands!
4 months before
Here is when you want to figure out what the groomsmen are wearing and decide on your hair and makeup for the big day. Confirm all your orders with vendors and make all necessary payments. If you can, attend pre-wedding counseling. If you're going to have a rehearsal dinner, get that planned and paid for in advance if you can!
2 months before
Mail out your official invitations! Start thinking about and writing your vows. Figure out how you and your soon-to-be spouse are going to be getting around the day of. Check out limos, personal drivers, etc. If there's any day of accessories you need go ahead and get them ready now!
6 weeks before
Apply for your marriage license and then get everything printed (menus, programs, table numbers, etc.)
1 month before
It's party time. Have fun at your bridal shower and let loose at your bachelor(ette) party!
2 weeks before
Get into your dress for your final fitting. Make sure to go over with your photographer every shot that you want the day of. Review your playlist with the DJ and give him specific song cues if you have any.
1 week before
Get a final guest headcount and finalize the seating chart around it. If necessary, resolve meals for your vendors. Confirm all your reservations. Take a little time to pamper yourself with facials, waxing, etc.
48 hours before
Wrap all your bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts to give to them. Take care of your last minute beauty needs like getting a spray tan, hair cut/color, pedicure, manicure, etc.
Meet with your coordinator for a complete run through of your special day! If you're planning on it, now is the time to have your rehearsal dinner to smooth through any kinks your special day might have. Give out your bridal party gifts!
Let your wedding coordinator handle everything! Be sure to introduce them to all necessary vendors, site managers and special guests. Then, officially tie the knot and live happily ever after!
If there are any rentals that need to be returned, appoint someone to handle them for you. Write and send thank you notes!
